At Bryx, our grapes are sourced from Havlin Vineyards and Silverleaf Vineyards in Oregon's famous Willamette Valley where the grapes ripen to perfection under the care of Bryx Owner and Winemaker, Steve Baron, where he works and/or manages each vineyard. Mr Baron is also the winemaker at Redgate Vineyards where Bryx wine is made.

Havlin Vineyards

Havlin Vineyards

A 40 acre vineyard owned by Jeff and Ling Havlin, the vineyard is situated north of Dallas, OR and at the east end of the of the Van Duzer Corridor in the Perrydale Hills where the grapes benefit from the rapid cooling affect of the Van Duzer winds (an exchange of hot valley air with the cool air from the Pacific Ocean) in the late afternoon and early evening.

First planted in 2008 with 10 acres of Pinot Noir clones Pommard, 115, and 777, the vineyard has expanded each year since with additional blocks planted to Syrah, Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir 667 and Swan, Gamay Noir, Chardonnay, Auxerrois, and other varieties still to come.

The ancient sea bed uplift soil in the vineyard provides nutrients to the vines and fruit and provides a spice and minerality component to the wine.

At Bryx, grapes are picked by hand, often with the help of family and friends...

Silverleaf Vineyards

Silverleaf Vineyards

This small one acre vineyard lies south of Independence, OR overlooking the valley south and the coast range mountains to the west. The first half acre was planted by Bill and Judy Donovan and friends in 1992 with the first six rows planted to Pinot Noir Wadenswil clone and the remaining eight rows planted to Pinot Noir Pommard clone. Early production produce award winning wines for Stangland but the vineyard fell into neglect for several years. The second half acre was planted with a few vines by Bill, Judy, and friends in 2002 with Pinot Noir Pommard clone but the vines were abandoned for several years, subsequent plantings have followed and continue to this day.

In 2011, Bryx was hired to revive and manage the vineyard. Today, the vineyard is still a work-in-progress to get the vines, soil, and cover crop under control but the plants are producing fantastic fruit! In 2014, the second half acre produced its first crop of exceptional fruit.
